In celebration of Pro Bono Month, the PCBA has given special honors to those members who have volunteered 200 hours or more to help clients in need. Member Steve Marso of Whitfield and Eddy, was one of three PCBA members recognized for his service at the Oct. 11 PCBA luncheon.
Steve Marso joined Whitfield and Eddy in 2001 and has been a partner since 2007.
“I have been more than surprised by the many hours devoted by Mr. Marso and the serious attention to detail as well as his commitment to justice,” pro bono client Janet Harlan wrote in a letter to PCBA Executive Director Carol Burdette. “I had nearly lost faith in Iowa and the legal community. That faith has been restored due to the uncompromising talent of Steve Marso.” Click here to read the entire letter.
In addition to his pro bono work, Steve handles a wide variety of disputes, such as personal injury, insurance, business, agricultural, banking, and commercial disputes, but his primary area of practice involves construction disputes. He is an arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association’s Construction Arbitrator Panel, a member of the Iowa State Bar Association’s Construction Law Section, a member of the firm’s Construction Law Practice Group, and a member in various residential and commercial construction trade associations. Prior to joining the firm in 2001, Steve worked for two years as a judicial law clerk to Judge Harold Vietor of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa.
