Maureen’s practice areas include personal injury litigation and worker’s compensation, primarily for clients in the hospitality and trucking industries. She has recent additional experience in bad faith litigation, appellate practice, contracts, employment law, personal injury and insurance. Over the course of her 23 years of practice, Maureen has tried personal injury cases to juries in state and federal court, as well as participated in mediations, administrative hearings, and bench trials. She is committed to working with her clients to develop individualized legal solutions.
Maureen is licensed to practice in the state of Iowa including the U.S. District Courts in the Northern and Southern districts of Iowa and the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals. In addition to maintaining her practice, Maureen also serves as chair of the firm’s Workers’ Compensation Practice Group and served two terms on the firm’s Executive Committee. She has been selected for the inaugural edition of the Martindale-Hubbell® Bar Register of Preeminent Women Lawyers™ exclusively for women attorneys who have received the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethical standards from their peers. She is a past president of the Polk County Women Attorneys, and a recipient of the President’s Citation from the Young Lawyers Division of the Iowa State Bar Association.
Outside of the firm, Maureen has been active as a volunteer coaching middle school and high school Mock Trial teams. She has taken high school teams to the State and National High School Mock Trial Tournaments, including the West Des Moines Valley High School team which won the National High School Mock Trial Championship in Oklahoma City, OK in 2006. Maureen also serves on the Mercy Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. She and her husband Terry, along with their three daughters, have also been active international travelers, and have enjoyed hosting high school foreign exchange students in their home through the AFS program.
