Rick began his practice at Whitfield & Eddy in 1991. Since that time, his practice has focused on civil trial work, focusing on product liability defense and insurance coverage and related commercial and construction issues. Rick has also worked on numerous appellate cases in the Iowa Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and the 8^th Circuit Court of Appeals.  In addition to writing numerous articles about trial and product liability issues, Rick has also worked on appellate briefing in the 6^th and 10^th Circuits and the United States Supreme Court. Rick received his JD from the University of Iowa College of Law, with high honors, in 1991. While at the University of Iowa, he wrote for and was an editor for the Journal of Corporation Law.
