Doohen Receives Defense Verdict In Product Liability Matter

05.21.2018

Member attorney Steve Doohen recently defended a product liability matter for an agricultural equipment manufacturer during a two week jury trial in the Iowa District Court for Boone County.

Doohen’s client manufactured one component of an anhydrous ammonia application system. An accident occurred involving the unintentional release of anhydrous ammonia. A farmer perished in the accident and his son was injured attempting to rescue his father. The wrongful death and personal injury claims involved allegations of design defect, failure to warn, and breach of warranty.

After a two week trial, the jury returned a verdict determining Doohen’s client was not at fault. The favorable verdict was the culmination of several years of litigation that was initiated in 2013.
