Labor & Employment Law Update: DOL Exempt Employee Rule Change Enjoined
On Tuesday, November 22, 2016 a United States District Court Judge in Texas issued a nationwide injunction blocking the December 1, 2016 implementation of the US Department of Labor regulations increasing the minimum salary requirement for exempt status employees to $47,476.00 per year.
For all of you who have planned salary increases and/or changed job descriptions, you may place those changes on the shelf, at least for now and maybe for the long run. The decision may be appealed to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. The DOL has announced that it is evaluating its options.
