Business Record Spotlights Molly Kottmeyer, Whitfield & Eddy Law's First Deputy General Counsel
The Business Record recently featured Molly Kottmeyer in its "A Closer Look" series. Molly joined Whitfield & Eddy Law in July as the firm's first Deputy General Counsel. Before joining the firm, Molly spent 11 years as counsel to the chief justice of the Iowa Supreme Court.
In this new position, Molly helps the firm plan for its future as it approaches its 100th anniversary in 2028. Her work includes succession and strategic planning along with recruiting new members and associates. She also leads the firm's adoption of legal technology, with a focus on how attorneys can use AI responsibly while protecting client confidentiality.
She compares her role to the work in-house counsel does for a corporation. "My job is to assist the firm in looking internally," she told the Business Record.
