Shay Slifka

Shay Slifka is an associate attorney in the firm’s litigation practice group. She actively works in areas including construction, products liability, personal injury, contract disputes, and estate/probate matters. Her practice involves investigation, counseling, mediation, and litigation in both state and federal courts. Shay was a co-editor for the 2026 ALFA International Transportation Practice Group Seminar.

She is admitted to practice in Iowa, the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa, and the United States Court of Federal Claims.

Law School and Undergraduate Experience

Shay received her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2025 with high distinction and was a Van Oosterhout-Baskerville Competition finalist and member of the Organization of Women Law Students and Staff. She received Jurisprudence Awards for Academic Excellence in mass tort litigation and principles of contract drafting and a Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence in wildlife and habitat conservation law. Shay also gained legal experience while externing with the State Public Defender’s Office in Cedar Rapids. Shay earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Philosophy summa cum laude from the University of Northern Iowa in 2021. She was President of Beta Gamma Sigma honors business fraternity, member of the UNI Business Presidents' Council, Co-President of the Philosophy Club, and Vice President of Fundraising for Women in Business. Shay spent one of her summers interning with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office in the Consumer Protection Division. She was also selected to have her economic research paper published on the topic of higher education promise programs.
