Insurance Defense Lawyers in Iowa

Overview

Our litigation attorneys have a long history of serving the insurance industry. Since the firm’s inception in 1928, we have represented numerous local, regional, and national insurance carriers, with respect to defending issues of personal injury, property damage, premises liability, breach of warranty, and the like. Attorneys in the firm are actively involved in litigation and trial work on behalf of insurance carriers throughout Iowa, the midwest and the nation.

On a national level, several of the firm’s attorneys are actively involved in the Defense Research Institute (DRI), a national organization of defense attorneys of some 30,000 members. David Phipps is a past member of DRI’s board of directors.

Locally, several of the firm’s lawyers are active members of the Iowa Defense Counsel Association (IDCA) including past president, Steve Doohen (2021-2022). The IDCA is a state-wide bar association with a membership of over 400 active members consisting of both lawyers and claim professionals who are actively engaged in the practice of law or work relating to the handling of claims or defense of legal actions. David Phipps and Jaki Samuelson are also past presidents of the organization.
