Volunteers Commemorate Drake Law School Mark S. Cady Day of Service 2021
Whitfield & Eddy attorneys and staff volunteered to clean metro trails and assist with pro bono cases from the Polk County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project in honor of the Mark S. Cady Day of Public Service on Friday, October 22, 2021.
The second annual Cady Day of Service brings the Iowa state legal community including attorneys and staff together to honor the life and legacy of the late Iowa Supreme Court Justice and his commitment to public service, access to justice, and civil rights.
The firm's family law attorneys joined the Iowa Supreme Court "22 in 22" program and will take pro bono cases from the Polk County Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project (PCBA VLP). The PCBA VLP provides thousands of pro bono clients in Polk County and is one of the most successful in the country with over 5,000 hours annually donated by local attorneys.
Attorneys and staff supported Des Moines Parks and Recreation by cleaning a section of the Neal Smith Trail by Birdland Marina in Des Moines, Iowa. Chief Justice Cady was an avid runner and user of the network of local trails.
