Doohen and Reynolds Instruct at Deposition Boot Camp 2019

Whitfield & Eddy litigators Steve Doohen and Kevin Reynolds recently served as instructors at a “Deposition Boot Camp” sponsored by the Iowa Defense Counsel Association. Associate attorneys Bryn Hazelwonder and Anna Mallen were students at the camp.

The day-long seminar took place at Grinnell Mutual Insurance Company’s conference and meeting facility in Grinnell, Iowa on October 25, 2019. Topics included lectures, a presentation by a medical professional, a panel discussion and break-out groups where younger or newer lawyers did an actual cross-examination of a Plaintiff’s treating physician, and a cross-examination of a plaintiff’s medical expert witness with an actual court reporter present. After the mock examinations, instructors demonstrated the proper technique and provided the students with valuable input and advice.

This was the third time in recent years that IDCA has done such a boot camp, and with an involvement of approximately 50 students and “teachers,” the camp was considered a success.
